Rovers Academy have launched the Yorkshire Youth Champions League for the 2022/2023 season.

The competition has been organised for the upcoming season by the head of Foundation Phase, Adam Pilgrim, and it will see U10s and U12s team's from the professional Academies across Yorkshire compete against each other throughout the season before a final due to take place in May 2023.

He said: "This competition is an exciting addition to our games programme in the Foundation Phase, and I'm grateful to my colleagues at the club, and my counterparts from the Academies across Yorkshire, for their support in launching this.

"Adding games where there is something on the line is going to provide some very powerful learning opportunities for our young players,  which can play a pivotal role in their development.

"We want the children to have the chance to experience success and failure, putting the technical and tactical learning in our curriculum to the test in games which will throw up different problems for the children to solve."

The group stage was drawn at the Eco-Power Stadium and the groups for the first round will look as follows (shown in order of balls drawn):

GROUP ONE GROUP TWO
Hull City Leeds United
Sheffield United Barnsley
Sheffield Wednesday Rotherham United
Bradford City Doncaster Rovers
