U18s manager Chad Gribble is demanding more from the youth team as preparation for the new season steps up.

Rovers drew 3-3 with Oldham Athletic in their first pre-season friendly, with Gribble's side taking the lead on all three occasions.

On reflection of the game, the U18s boss wants to see more aggression from the youngsters in the build-up to the new campaign.

He said: “I think we need to keep building physically, and off the back of that build their minds so that they can become more confident and can compete for longer periods of the game.

“The matches are going to get tougher and we’re looking to ramp those games up because that’s the way we wanted pre-season to look.

“I think we can still be more aggressive in certain parts of the game, a bit quicker to the ball, and we can figure out when we’ve got control which we probably missed in the first 30 minutes but had in the last half hour.

“I think we looked like the team that was going to get the winner but I think we just need to keep building our fitness, physicality, and style of play.”
