Molyneux pleased with Huddersfield outing

17 July 2022

Luke Molyneux felt Huddersfield provided Rovers with a type of test they needed in the pre-season friendly at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Rovers were strong without the ball against their Championship opponents and a second half penalty secured their fourth win of the summer schedule so far.

He said: “It was a good test against a top Championship side. The weather made it more difficult but I feel like we performed really well and got the result we wanted.

“It was a different challenge and one that we wanted, in the league we aren’t always going to have the ball and we showed we can be disciplined in our shape.

“I needed the minutes on Wednesday and it made me more excited to get out there again, I feel good after getting another 75 minutes in the legs.”

Molyneux and striker George Miller linked up well in their first appearance at the Eco-Power, and showed good signs of a promising partnership developing.

He added: “It’s good to link up with George and his movement in behind is a handful for defenders, he’s a good player to work with along with the experienced midfield we’ve got here too.

“I feel like there is a good relationship there already, we know what the other wants and there are a lot of conversations going on throughout games to get the better of our opponents.

“He likes to get on the shoulder and I like to cut in so it looks like a really good combination to try and hurt teams when we get the chance.

“It’s great to see the fans and the pitch was immaculate, it was good to play at home for the first time and I’m looking forward to getting back here on Tuesday.”
