27 July 2022

Bobby Madden will be the man in the middle when Rovers travel to Bradford City on the opening day of the Sky Bet League Two season this weekend.

It will be the first time the 43-year-old has refereed a domestic game in England after transferring from the Scottish leagues in the summer.

Madden spent two decades working for the Scottish FA, overseeing more than 1000 matches including the Scottish Cup and League Cup finals.

In his last season in Scotland, was in charge of 40 games, handing out 119 yellow cards and three reds.

The former FIFA referee will be assisted by Wayne Grunnill and Anthony Moore at the Utilita Energy Stadium. Gary Kellett will be the fourth official.
