Yorkshire derby kicks off 22/23 campaign for Rovers

23 June 2022

Rovers will kick off the new season with a Yorkshire derby as we visit Bradford City in Sky Bet League Two.

A trip to the Utilita Energy Stadium on July 30 will see Rovers begin the 2022/23 campaign.

The season’s first visitors to the Eco-Power Stadium will be Sutton United on August 6, ahead of the first round of the Carabao Cup in the following midweek.

It will be only the third ever meeting between Rovers and Sutton, with the previous two coming in the 1999/00 campaign.

A visit to AFC Wimbledon (August 13) is followed by back to back home fixtures against Greater Manchester duo Stockport County (August 16) and Salford City (August 20). August is rounded off with a trip to Northampton Town.

Near neighbours Mansfield Town visit the Eco-Power Stadium on September 3, with the reverse fixture taking place on January 28 at the One Call Stadium.

A Yorkshire derby - and first ever league meeting - with Harrogate Town will take place in DN4 on December 14 with Rovers making their first competitive trip to the CNG Stadium on April 15.

Rovers will make the short trip down the M180 to Grimsby Town on November 12 and host the Mariners on Easter Bank Holiday Monday, April 10.

The Easter weekend will kick off with a Good Friday visit to Gillingham on April 7.

Boxing Day will see Rovers head to Tranmere Rovers with home games against Rochdale (December 29) and Carlisle United (January 1) to follow over the festive period.

The season will close with an away day at Walsall on May 6, which follows the final home game of the campaign against Colchester United on April 29.
