Steve Eyre says he’s hoping his experience can help continue to improve the Rovers squad after joining the club’s backroom staff.
The 49-year-old arrives with more than 30 years of coaching under his belt and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
He said: “First and foremost I’m delighted to be here and grateful for the opportunity to work for such a good club.
“There are a lot of good staff here with plenty of experience so hopefully I can help add to that.
“The opportunity came to speak to the manager and having worked with six or seven of the players before it felt like a good fit.”
Having had chance to assess the squad closely as a radio pundit in recent weeks, Eyre has been impressed with the form on show.
He added: “I’ve had a bit of time out since my last position at Fleetwood Town in the same division, and I’ve been doing some punditry all across League One for the BBC since then.
“I’ve watched the team twice over the past month and there is clearly an upward curve within the group at the moment.
“They are getting better and with so many points to play for there is a good morale about the group.”
