Support for charity match as Rovers legends return

6 May 2022

Club Doncaster are proud to support the latest Eve’s Trust Legends Match which will take place at the Eco-Power Stadium this weekend.

The annual charity fixture has been hosted at the stadium for the last decade and this year, Club Doncaster have taken on the back-of-shirt sponsorship for the Rovers team, with a £1,000 donation to the Eve Merton Dreams Trust charity.

Chief operating officer Shaun Lockwood said: “The Eve’s Trust game has been a highlight of the summer months over the years and we have been proud to support the event by providing hire of the stadium at a significant reduction.

“This year we are delighted to contribute to the charity via the shirt sponsorship and look forward to seeing some former Rovers players pulling on the red and white once again.

“Our involvement in charities in the area is set to increase with the launch of a new project, which we will confirm in the coming days.

"We are pleased to help with the fantastic work of the Eve Merton Dreams Trust to begin the project."

Saturday’s game will see fundraisers team with former professionals as Rovers face Sheffield Wednesday in a rematch of last year’s fixture, which raised more than £60,000.

Head of football operations James Coppinger has signed up for the Rovers team in his first public appearance since hanging up his boots at the end of last season.

Fellow former Rovers players Chris Brown, Andy Butler, Colin Douglas, Jason Price and Rob Jones have also signed up while former ex-England internationals Chris Waddle and Des Walker will line up for the Owls along with Paolo Di Canio.

The Eve Merton Dreams Trust seeks to help individuals diagnosed with serious or terminal cancer create or fulfil a dream and is able to do so thanks to fundraising and donations.

Tickets for Saturday’s game - which will kick off at 1.30pm - are available from the Club Doncaster box office on (01302) 762576 or by clicking HERE.
