Rovers U18s top goal scorer Jack Goodman was delighted to bag a brace in his side’s 3-2 win at Lincoln City in the EFL Youth Alliance League.
The striker scored a goal either side of the interval before Faris Khan finished off the goalscoring in the final ten minutes to give Rovers consecutive wins.
The result sees Rovers sit in a very healthy position in the table and, despite scoring twice, Goodman gave credit to his teammates for their contributions.
He said: “It’s been a great game against Lincoln, we’ve took onboard everything that’s been given to us over the last two weeks and I think everyone has played their part.
“I enjoyed both of my goals with the first being from a penalty which I was able to win thanks to Will Green’s ball in, the defender took me out from behind and then I was able to put it in the back of the net.
“The second one again, Will’s played the ball in, and that gave me the chance to finish with my left foot, it’s beat the keeper and I’ve got my ninth goal of the season.
“We’ve responded well to everything the manager has said, the defence were solid and the midfield are always feeding me the balls so there’s nothing more I can really ask for.”
The youth team’s talisman set himself a target in pre-season of 20 goals before the end of the 2022/23 season and with his current rate, Goodman admitted that might have to be revised.
He added: “I’ve scored nine goals already and we’ve still got quite a few games to play before Christmas so I think that if I can carry on the form I’ve been in, then I can definitely hit that target and aim for 25 next.”
