Lead youth Development Phase coach Frank Sinclair was pleased to take consecutive wins with Rovers U18s for the first time as they ran out 3-2 winners at Lincoln City.

The visitors took the lead twice through Jack Goodman either side of the break but it would take a late goal from Faris Khan to ensure the points returned to South Yorkshire.

It was the third time the sides met this season with the previous meeting ending in a draw and an Imps victory so Sinclair was happy to see Rovers beat their Lincolnshire counterparts.

He said: “It was a good game between two high level teams who were trying to play the right way and we started well and took the lead.

“To be fair to Lincoln, they had the lion’s share of the possession in the first half so we had to be disciplined in our shape off the ball and I think we did that quite well as well as playing on the counter.

“In the second-half we got a bit more composure, kept the ball better and the two goals that win the game for us are as good as I’ve ever seen at this level when you look at the passing, moving and finishing, it was excellent.

“It’s really pleasing because it’s something that we’ve worked on over the last few weeks because we’re trying new things and it’s not always easy to adapt but we’re growing and the players are getting better at it.

“We’ve shown our resilience towards the end, got two wins on the spin and that’s really pleasing because we’ve beat a very good team in Lincoln.”

The result saw Rovers move up to third in the EFL Youth Alliance League after two wins against top of the league opposition in as many weeks and Sinclair was thrilled with his side’s response over the last few weeks.

He added: “I’ve tried to take all the good things Chad has done up to now and tried to sprinkle in a little bit of my career experiences to make sure we keep pushing on and develop as footballers and we’ll carry on doing that.

“I’m really enjoying what we’re doing and we’re really pleased with the Lincoln result.”
