Anderson is ready and raring to go ahead of Gillingham

27 October 2022

Tom Anderson is keen to build on Tuesday night's positive performance as Gillingham visit the Eco-Power Stadium.

The centre back made his return to the team against Barnsley in the Papa John’s Trophy after injury and has been a consistent figure in the team since and is expected to feature against The Gills on Saturday.

“I am feeling fitter and sharper after each training session,” he said.

“I am there now with my fitness after an hour in the Barnsley game and full matches against Carlisle, Crewe and Stevenage, I feel like my old self again.

“Gillingham always provide a tough, physical test and we will have to stand-up to them. We respect them, but we don’t fear them.”

Tom, with the rest of the squad, has spent a week on the training ground with new head coach Danny Schofield and believes he is already seeing lots of positive changes.

“Danny is very good on and off the pitch, he has a lot of detail and is very thorough. Everyone knows what they’re doing,” he added.

“The last two games have arguably been our best games of the season. We can keep building on that and keep going.

“Danny has had us working on pressing at the right to the tempos that he wants, and he’s been keen on making sure we’re recovering correctly.”
