Doncaster Rovers Training Centre agreement extended

24 October 2022

The Doncaster Rovers Training Centre have extended their agreement with Club Doncaster by a further two years which will see them continue their work at the Eco-Power Stadium.

The Training Centre was created to bridge the gap between grassroots and academy football at Rovers, providing young footballers within the region the opportunity to receive first class coaching from some of the best coaches around.

The centre also provides a clear pathway for youngsters to the Rovers Academy and more recently the Doncaster Rovers Belles RTC and matches the curriculum set out by senior Academy staff.

This means that all youngsters who attend the Training Centre will follow the exact same coaching principles and timetables as the Academy with the view to giving players the very best chance of succeeding should their chance in the Academy come.

Head of operations at the Training Centre, and former Rovers goalkeeper Jan Budtz, said: “We are thrilled to be able to continue our excellent partnership with Club Doncaster for another two years.

“Our weekly training sessions over the past couple of years has not only seen players progress into the Rovers Academy, but has also improved local grass roots football as a whole.

“Our coaching curriculum and style enables players to develop the technical, physical and mental aspects of their game, while having experienced coaches to support them along the way.”

Rovers’ head of football operations James Coppinger said: “We are pleased as a club to be able to continue the good work done by the Training Centre in recent years.

“We want the young players in Doncaster to learn, develop and most importantly enjoy playing the game of football.”
