Knoyle hails ‘top performance’ against Gillingham

30 October 2022

Kyle Knoyle says he is enjoying his new advanced role in Danny Schofield's side, after picking up another assist in the 1-0 win over Gillingham.

The 26-year-old felt Harrison Biggins’ second-half goal was fully deserved after Rovers had control of the entire game.

“The Gillingham game was a top performance from the team. It’s something we have built on top of from the Crewe and Stevenage games,” he said.

“It’s great to finally get the reward for our good performance as it has been coming over the last two matches.

“We had the momentum throughout the game, but we had to up the tempo to create better quality chances.

“We felt the goal was coming, especially when Biggo hit the crossbar. Thankfully, we got there in the end.”

The wing-back gave credit to head coach Danny Schofield, who picked up his first win as Rovers boss since his appointment on October 22.

“From a personal perspective, I have been enjoying it as I am higher up the pitch. I can create more chances and hopefully score some more too,” he added.

“We get clear messages from Danny and have a structure in place where everyone knows their roles. This allows some freedom within that.

“Myself, James Maxwell and Luke Molyneux got forward a lot against Stevenage, but we didn’t convert any of our chances.

“After that, we worked on our end product in training after and we reaped the rewards for that against Gillingham with Biggo scoring from my cross.”
