Doncaster Rovers, and wider Club Doncaster, will be supporting the EFL’s Rainbow Laces campaign from October 19 until October 30, 2022.
The Rainbow Laces campaign highlights inclusion across sports and provides a sense of belonging to people from the LGBTQ+ community where instances of discrimination are still present.
Rovers’ Sky Bet League Two fixture against Stevenage on Tuesday, October 25 will be the dedicated Rainbow Laces fixture.
Club Doncaster's social media channels will be branded in rainbow colours throughout this period to show our support.
Here is why we continue to support the campaign:
- 43% of sports fans think live sports events are not welcoming for LGBTQ+ fans
- 78% of the LGBTQ+ community believe being open about their sexuality at a game makes them feel unsafe
- 63% of football fans said they would not feel comfortable confronting someone using homophobic languages/slurs.
- In the 2021/22 season, Kick It Out received 108 reports of homophobic language at football matches, making up 28% of complaints in that season.
