Danny Schofield is looking forward to Rovers’ Sky Bet League Two match against Gillingham.
The head coach has been incharge of the squad for over a week and has been impressed by how quickly the team are picking up his methods.
“The lads have been fantastic. I’ve thrown a lot of information at them that they have taken on board in a short space of time,” he said.
“I’ve been impressed by what they have implemented on the pitch over two games, in such a short space of time - that’s a credit to the players.
“We need to marry both results and performances. Performances usually take time to come, but what I have been very encouraged by what I have seen so far.”
Gillingham was one of the other three teams to be relegated to Sky Bet League Two last season with Rovers and they currently sit 20th in the division. Nevertheless, Schofield is expecting a tough test from Neil Harris’ side.
“Gillingham are a very competitive team who have a specific style of play that we need to focus on to nullify and expose their weaknesses,” he added.
“It will be no different to any other League Two fixture in how much of a battle it will be.
“I had a successful spell playing with Neil and we have a strong connection with him so I know how organised his side will be.”
