Anderson remains positive

14 August 2019

Tom Anderson felt there were positives to take from Rovers’ narrow Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town.

Jordan Cook’s first-half goal was enough to send the Mariners through, but Anderson says Rovers created enough to get something from the game.

He said: “It’s never nice to lose especially given that we had a lot of the ball and created chances, we just need to be more ruthless.

“We gave possession away inside their half and credit to them because they attacked quickly and it was a smart finish.

“There are positives to take despite the result, we’ve had chances and we’d be much more worried if they weren’t coming our way.”

Having been partnered by Alex Baptiste, Ben Sheaf and Cameron John so far this season, Anderson has been pleased with his own start to the campaign.

He added: “I’ve had a couple of different partners this season, I just have to keep doing my job because I know whoever comes in is a very good player.

“I’ve really enjoyed the start from a personal point of view, I feel fit and strong and just want to keep improving.

“It’s good to work with the manager because he was a centre-back as a player, me and the other boys can learn a lot from him.”
