Club Doncaster: we support our mums

1 August 2019

Club Doncaster has signed the Doncaster Council’s pledge to support new mothers across the town.

Mums have the legal right to breastfeed anywhere (2010 Equality Act) but many do not feel confident in doing so.

The “we support our mums” scheme aims to make it easier for breastfeeding mums to recognise where they will be welcomed to breastfeed their babies whilst out and about in Doncaster.

In 2019, Rovers was voted the most family-friendly club in the EFL which proves the club’s dedication to supporting families who would like to attend games while also committing to make the day as enjoyable as possible.

Group head of communications Shaun Lockwood said: “We believe there should be no barriers which prevent people from supporting Doncaster Rovers and this includes new mothers wishing to breastfeed at the stadium. We will look to support new mothers in any way we can – this includes designated quiet areas for women looking for a little more privacy when breastfeeding.”

Councillor Nigel Ball, Doncaster Council cabinet member for Public Health said: “We Support Our Mums is all about removing the stigma that some people associate with breastfeeding in public places, mums can legally breastfeed anywhere but many do not feel confident in doing so. The more mums who breastfeed in public, the more normalised it will become, which can only be a good thing for the health of both mother and baby. We are really pleased that Club Doncaster have pledged their support to our scheme”.

Rovers first Sky Bet League One game of the 2019/20 season kicks off at 3pm on Saturday August 3. Get to the stadium to back the boys by purchasing your ticket from the Club Doncaster Box Office or online at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
