Rovers move an easy decision for Taylor

9 August 2019

Latest signing Jon Taylor says joining Rovers was an easy decision after speaking to Darren Moore.

Taylor was subject to interest off several of Rovers’ rivals this summer but the club have managed to land his signature after holding impressive talks with the 27-year-old.

He said: “I spoke to the gaffer on the phone last Friday and he explained how the team played football and it sounded really exciting. As soon as I got off the phone to him I rang my agent straight away and I knew I wanted to come here.

“He explained how he wants to play an attacking style of football and it just sounded perfect for what I want in a club. I want to come here to attack and score goals and get promoted.

“It was a hard summer for myself after I left Rotherham, I was told I was going to a Championship club but things changed and I found that hard. I got offers from League One and abroad but it was just finding the right club for me where I’ll enjoy my football and progress.”

Taylor is no stranger to South Yorkshire having spent the last three years living here while playing for Rotherham United in the Championship.

He added: “I have loved my three years living in South Yorkshire, it is a nice area and perfect for me. I’m so excited to get going it is unbelievable to be here, I have had a hard summer with over-thinking things and decisions but now I have made my decision I am here to go and ready to go.

“The lads have been sound since I have arrived but it might take a week or so to get into it fully. When I arrived Friday morning I couldn’t wait to get going."
