Will Flint was proud of Rovers U18s for continuing their unbeaten start to the season while keeping a cleansheet.

Goals from Jack Goodman and Faris Khan put Rovers in control inside the second half and it was enough to take home the three points in the EFL Youth Alliance League.

The result saw Chad Gribble’s side record back-to-back wins as well as clean sheets and Flint felt his side’s first away win of the season was testament to their performance.

He said: “I think in the first half we battled well and stuck in there and we had a few opportunities in the first few minutes that would’ve been nice to capitalise on but we kept ourselves in the game.

“The patterns were there in our play that we had practiced in training and you could see that we were all on the same page today.

“The final execution in the first 45 minutes was lacking a little bit but in the second-half we got a really good hold on the game and from then on there were no complaints.

“We got a real chokehold on the game and saw it through to take the win.”

The win at the home of English football saw Rovers add their fourth win in five games with three of those been clean sheets, an achievement Flint was proud of.

He added: “Clean sheets mean everything to us because we do take a lot of pride in our defending and set-pieces.

“We’ve come up against some big teams that have tried to bombard us with their own set pieces so to come away with the clean sheet having faced open play, corners and free-kicks is a great feeling."
