Rovers U18s manager Chad Gribble has branded his side’s performance the most complete of the season following a 5-0 victory over Hull City in the Professional Development League Cup.

Goals from Max Adamson, Will Green, Faris Khan and a Jack Goodman double gave Rovers complete control of what was their first game in group C.

Gribble’s side’s dominance saw them return to winning ways following a draw at Rotherham United and saw Rovers maintain their 100-per-cent record on home soil with a performance the manager was full of praise for.

He said: “The Hull game has been the most complete performance of the season so far.

“We were first to everything, and I think we’ve played with more energy and intent than our opponents and that’s given us a platform to play from.

“We’ve played with the best quality that we’ve had all season, we’ve been calm when we’ve won the ball back, got some good control on the game and I think we’ve exploited any area and space the opponent gave us really well so I’m really pleased today.”

After dropping the first points of the season last weekend on their travels, Gribble felt his Rovers side responded well to turn a single point previously into three against category two opposition.

He added: “The big difference against Hull was our composure with the ball.

“We competed well last week but lacked the calmness and quality on that regain of possession and today we’ve shown that.

“Across the board, throughout all the units when we won the ball back there was that pause to find that first pass to secure possession and then we had our moment.

“I don’t think we can move away though from the energy the group are showing at the moment to go after the ball and win it back for our team been amazing.

“They’re all believing that’s the platform for success and that’s why they’re getting the positive results but we’re not done yet, I said last week you’ve not seen the best of us and I still don’t think that’s the case.

“There’s more to come and the players are in agreement with that so we’re certainly not going to stop there and that in hand develops the individuals because there’s some we’re really starting to see what their game looks like and what they can bring to Rovers.”
