McSheffrey: we've prepared well

13 September 2022

Gary McSheffrey says his side have used a longer break between games wisely as they prepare to take on Barrow on Tuesday night.

Rovers haven’t played since Saturday September 4 after the scheduled trip to Hartlepool United was postponed.

On using the extra time:

“We had Saturday off once we found out the Hartlepool game was off, and then got back in on Sunday morning to give ourselves a two day build-up to Barrow.

“We gave ourselves time with our families but also as coaching staff spent a lot of time analysing Barrow and watching a lot of videos from their previous games.

“I felt we were ready for Hartlepool and we’d trained well in the week, so the challenge now has been to keep that intensity up heading into Tuesday.”

On going up against Barrow:

“Barrow have had a good start, Pete Wild did really well at Halifax last season and punched above his weight there in terms of the resources available to him.

“He’s recruited well and added a lot of pace in attacking areas. They’ve got goals in their team and that is why they’ve done so well.

“When you come up against them it is always full throttle and fast paced, they will try and get in our faces so we have to match their work ethic and if we do that we feel we’re more than a match for anyone in the division.”
