Barlow urges Rovers players to stick together

11 April 2023

Aidan Barlow has urged his Rovers teammates to stick together as they look for a way out of the current disappointing run of form.

Barlow netted a superb goal in the Bank Holiday Monday clash with Grimsby Town but the visitors scored two late goals to take the three points.

Barlow on how the game played out:

“It’s hard to take because we lost the game in the end. Coming away it’s difficult. I enjoyed the game but it’s hard when you’ve come away with nothing. I don’t think there was a real turning point. We had the game in control, we were winning and they scored a goal from a corner, which was cheap and they scored another one that was poor.

“We had chances in both halves. I thought in the first half we were miles the better team but we’ve come away with nothing.”

On his goal:

“It happened in the blink of an eye. I knew what I was going to do as soon as the ball fell to me and thankfully it went in the goal. The keeper had no chance because I put it right in the corner. It was a good finish.”

On confidence in the camp:

“You just have to stick together and pull each other through. Anyone that is down, you just have to lift them up. You just have to keep going. These situations make people. You have to have the mentality to keep going and the good will come in the end.”

On hopes for the rest of the season:

“You have to have motivation as a footballer every day, to get better and better. That’s what it is. If you want to reach the top, that’s what it takes. We have to take it game by game and get the most out of each one that we can. We have to finish the season strong.”
