Bobby Faulkner is relishing the opportunity to stake his claim for regular football for Rovers next season but is determined to battle in every moment remaining in the current campaign.
The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the narrow defeat at Gillingham and is determined to hold onto his starting shirt for the remainder of the campaign.
On how the game played out:
“It was unfortunate with the result but I felt with the way we played and fought, the battle was there. But again, we didn’t get the three points or the point so it’s not the best trip.
“I feel like we were definitely the better side through the second half. We battled it in the first half, switched off for the goal and I feel like we definitely should have taken something from the game.
“We dealt with a lot of their threats with the long balls and the big lads making the flicks but they got what they got.”
On his physical battle with Oli Hawkins:
“It was a very frustrating game marking him. It was a challenge but I believe I did alright. I feel like I battled well but that goes for everyone today.”
On being handed a start:
“It’s massive for next season but we’re all focused on the next game so it’s even more massive for that. Every minute I play I take and do the best I can.
“Every game is a big one for us. We’re at home next so hopefully we can get the win for the fans.”
