Hurst: We want to end the season on a positive note

23 April 2023

Kyle Hurst insists there is a determination from the Rovers squad to end the season on a positive note.

Speaking to the media following the defeat to Newport County, the winger was asked if the group were desperate for the season to end.

But Hurst rubbished the suggestion and said there is a collective will to end the disappointing run of form before the campaign is over.

On how the game played out:

“It was a tough one to take for the team. I felt like we were on top and then two long throw-ins, set plays, and it changed the game. I don’t think we went under - we kept trying hard to do what we do but it’s very disappointing for us.

“They were quite a big team and they just got the better of us. They’ve got big players and that’s their style. We know that and work on it to try to deal with it but today we didn’t.”

On the final two games:

“I wouldn’t say any of us want things to end because we all love what we do. Obviously there needs to be a refresh and a reset but we still have two important games left and two wins would let us take momentum into next season.

“We look forward to these next two games. Get two wins and take it from there.

“We’re not where we want to be. We won’t go down but obviously we won’t go up. If we can get wins in these next two games then that’ll take us into next season with good momentum.”
