Westbrooke has the bug back

6 April 2023

Zain Westbrooke says he’s enjoyed being back in a football environment in his first few weeks with Rovers.

The former Coventry City and Bristol Rovers man has made two substitute appearances since arriving at the Eco-Power Stadium in March.

On being welcomed in:

“It’s been good for me since I arrived, I had to settle in pretty quickly which was helped by the boys and the staff here.

“It’s a good place and an open group, confidence is of course a bit low at the moment but there are still plenty of games to go to get that back.

“I’ve seen a lot in football and sometimes teams go through these spells that we are at present, but the best ones keep working and trusting the things they do every day.”

On finding a way back into the game:

“I’ve had a lot of knocks throughout my career but with experience you learn to deal with that better and take the rough with the smooth.

“It’s been great to get back in these past couple of weeks, getting that buzz at 3pm on a Saturday is something I haven’t had for a long time.

“I’ve worked hard to get myself up to speed and I feel like now I’m ready to play more minutes after building myself up in the first couple of games.”
