Cliff Byrne insists Rovers are not content with there being a bedding-in process for the new-look squad in the early weeks of the season but believes patience will be needed.
A total of 12 new additions have been made to the group over the summer, while Byrne and manager Grant McCann are implementing their own ideas on the squad following their returns to the club in May.
After being disappointed with the performance on the opening day of the season against Harrogate Town, Byrne is looking for considerable improvement as Rovers visit Newport County this weekend.
“There’s been a lot of change and probably a shift in the dynamic of how we want the team to play,” he said. “There’s been new personnel introduced into the football club and then into the team so naturally it can take time.
“But with the work that we’ve done in pre-season, we want to try to accelerate that. We brought a lot of the signings in early.
“As a management staff, you hope those performances come quick and fast but at times you have to be patient and allow the group to evolve and grow. We want to try to get the balance right.”
