Grant McCann is looking for improvement from his Rovers side as they visit Hull City in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
McCann was disappointed with the performance put on by his players in the season opener against Harrogate Town on Saturday - an opinion that has not changed
“When we go into a Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday week, it’s difficult to try to fit everything in - ie the debriefs, whatever we’re trying to do against Hull on Tuesday evening, the analysis. So I spoke to the leadership group about certain things and we addressed it as a team.
“Sometimes I say things to the players after a game and there’s times where I feel like I shouldn’t have said that or I don’t think that was right. But having watched the game back, my honest feedback to the players was that I haven’t changed what I said to you after the game.
“We need to be better in certain aspects of our game and there’s a long way to go to improve that. We’re trying to work towards that.
“The mindset was shifted straight after that to get onto Hull. I’ve watched their last two or three games. They had a tough game at Norwich but you can see what Liam [Rosenior] is trying to do. He’s an enthusiastic young coach that is going to have a top, top career I feel and he’s got some good players there. It’s going to be a good game tomorrow.”
