George Miller said there was a determination from the Rovers to give a better account of themselves as they visited Hull City in the Carabao Cup.
The striker netted both goals as Rovers came from behind to beat the Tigers and secure their place in the second round.
It came after a disappointing opening day performance against Harrogate Town, which Miller said Rovers were keen to put to bed.
“We didn’t give a true representation of ourselves at the weekend but it’s going to improve,” he said.
“It takes time and it will happen over time. We’re going to keep trying to do what the gaffer wants from us and I think this was a good reflection of that.
“I thought we were very good. It was a lot better than Saturday. They allowed us to do that because they tried to play out a lot so we could fully lock on and press, which suited us.”
