Thomas Kirk has been appointed referee for Rovers’ clash with Newport County on Saturday.
This will be the Manchester official’s second match of the season, having taken charge of the Carabao Cup clash between Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers in midweek. He issued five yellow cards at Oakwell.
Kirk refereed two Rovers matches last term, both at the Eco-Power Stadium - the defeat to Mansfield Town, in which he awarded both sides a penalty, and the win over Barrow.
He will be assisted by Jack Clench and Stuart Kane on Saturday while Lewis Sandoe has been assigned fourth official duties.
