Rovers can confirm that goalkeeper Rory Watson has signed a one-month contract with the club.
The 27-year-old has trained with Rovers since pre-season following an injury to Louis Jones and will now provide experienced cover on a more formal basis for the next few weeks.
Manager Grant McCann said: “We’ve had a mutual agreement with Rory since early on in pre-season since Louis Jones picked up his injury.
“He’ll continue to do that until Louis is fit again, which we hope will be in the next two to three weeks and Rory will bring his experience to the group.”
York-born Watson spent last season with National League champions Wrexham, having joined from Scunthorpe United where he made more than 100 appearances.
Watson is eligible to go into the squad for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Hull City, where he emerged through the youth ranks.
He will wear the number 34 shirt during the length of his contract.
