The Rovers squad were embarrassed by the performance in defeat to Morecambe, according to Owen Bailey.
Apologising to supporters for the manner of the 5-0 loss, midfielder Bailey said there was a determination to put things right as quickly as possible.
He said: “We didn’t get going at all and I think we’re quite embarrassed and so disappointed as a group.
“It’s a real tough one to take with the scoreline and in our own stadium.
“It’s really important that we make sure that never happens again.
“We’re frustrated and apologetic to everyone that came out and supported us because we didn’t give them anything.”
Picking out one aspect of the defeat, Bailey said Rovers must show better reactions when conceding goals to give themselves the best chance of fighting back in matches.
“In general we need to be better and react better when we concede,” he said. “I think with the players we have in the team, we’re always in any game.
“Players like Mo [Faal] and Joe [Ironside], they can score goals out of anywhere. Mols [Luke Molyneux] and Hursty [Kyle Hurst], our creative players, can create things out of anywhere.
“We’re never out of the game so that was the most frustrating part - the way we reacted after conceding the third goal.”
