Cliff Byrne said there were plenty of positives to take as Rovers booked their place in the last 16 of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy with a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest U21.
Goals from Luke Molyneux, Kyle Hurst and Joe Ironside saw Rovers progress on a night which also saw Jamie Sterry return to action.
