Doncaster Rovers Foundation Phase are delighted to be taking part in the newly created 'Futsal Super League' during the final half of the season.

After the phase successfully introduced the Yorkshire Youth Champions League in the summer of 2022 they are now expanding with a further competition based around Futsal.

In its inaugural season, Rovers will play fixtures against Mansfield Town, Rotherham United and West Yorkshire Futsal Club.

Games will last 40 minutes, with two 20 minutes halves.

The games programme will start on March 6 and conclude on May 28.

The competition format was created and developed by Rovers' lead youth foundation phase coach Adam Pilgrim.

"The introduction of these league games helps us to further integrate Futsal as part of our foundation phase games and training programme, as we aim to get to a point where the players are well versed in the rules and tactical elements," he said.

"The game is important to our players' learning, as the combination of the rules of the game, the surface, the ball, all contribute to providing an environment where it shines a spotlight on the key qualities we are looking to develop in the academy's youngest players, which will in turn prepare them for the demands of football in the older age groups of the academy.

"Once again, collaboration with other clubs has been important to provide the challenge needed for our players, and we thank Rotherham United, Mansfield Town & West Yorkshire Futsal Club for agreeing to take part in this pilot league, which can hopefully lead to a bigger competition with more clubs and age groups next season."
