Rovers U18s will welcome category two side Peterborough United for their Professional Development League Cup quarter-final at the Hoober Homes Elite Performance Centre.
It will be the first meeting between the two sides since an FA Youth Cup tie in March 2021 at the Weston Homes Stadium that the home side won 2-1, despite a converted penalty from Liam Ravenhill for Rovers.
The Posh currently sit mid table in the Professional Development League North having played 14 games, picking up 16 points in the process – winning five, drawing one and losing eight.
In the group stages of the PDL Cup, Peterborough finished top of Group B with seven points after a draw with Crewe Alexandra and wins against Rovers’ EFL Youth Alliance League rivals Huddersfield Town and Bradford City.
Their recent league form however sees them with only one win in their last six games, that coming against Coventry City with losses in that spell coming against Rovers’ group counterparts Barnsley and Hull City.
Rovers will go into the game looking to maintain their unbeaten start to 2023 having taken a 3-0 win at Accrington before been held to a 2-2 draw by Harrogate Town.
Spectators can watch Rovers U18s battle for a place in the final four of the competition at Cantley Park, free-of-charge (kick-off 11am).
