Kyle Hurst admitted he would struggle to enjoy his goal after Rovers fell to defeat at Mansfield Town.
Hurst netted his second goal in three games to put Rovers right back in the game at 2-1, only for Mansfield to restore a two-goal advantage minutes later.
The 21-year-old is enjoying his football at the moment and is confident improvement will continue for Rovers despite Saturday’s setback.
On how the game played out:
“It’s never good losing but all we can do is take the positives from it, bounce back in training next week and take the result we deserve against Hartlepool.
“The positives were that we started the second half really well, off the front foot. If it’d have stayed at 2-1 for a bit longer I think we’d have taken the game. We were on top.
“But moments like that third goal happened and it changed.”
On the strong start to the second half:
“The first half wasn’t great and we knew that. In the second half we came out on the front foot, winning second balls, pressing. We got the goal we deserved but I think we were unlucky with the third goal.”
On his goal:
“It was a nice finish. It was a great pass from Ro-Shaun Williams and I just thought cut it back and slot it in with my left foot. I’m glad I scored but it’s a tough one to take.”
On taking a more free role in the second half:
“I enjoyed it. I think it worked and I enjoyed it. But whatever the gaffer wants, we’ll do it.”
On his own form this season:
“I’m enjoying it and I’m enjoying working under the gaffer. I’m learning a lot so I want to continue working.
“I’m always striving for more. I’m happy but I always want more.
“I’m full of confidence but I just want to go for more and help the team as much as I can.”
On the arrival of the five new signings:
“It’s freshened things up. It’s nice having the new boys in, getting to know them. They’re all good players so it’s great.”
