Joe Ironside was delighted to find the back of the net for the first time in Rovers colours as he netted a brace in the 3-2 friendly win at Boston United.
And he was not interested in entering any debate over whether both goals should be credited to him. One strike took a deflection on its way in, leading some to claim it should have been given as an own goal.
Regardless, the striker was pleased to get off the mark in pre-season as he looks to get up to speed for the upcoming competitive action.
“One of them was a bit dubious but I’ll take it,” he said. “I just need to make sure I’m in the right position. Whether it came off me or not, they can argue about that.
“I got there for the first one and I think I could have done better with the first connection but luckily the ball came back to me and I made sure to put it in the net.”
