Grant McCann hailed three pieces of quality play that brought Rovers’ goals in the 3-1 friendly triumph at Rossington Main.
Goals from Tommy Rowe, George Broadbent and George Miller saw Rovers to the victory at Oxford Street.
McCann said: “Jack Senior’s ball in and Rowey’s header. A good bit of play in the build-up to George Broadbent’s goal and really good play from young Tavonga Kuleya to slip George Miller in.
“Some good quality finishes but the main thing for us was to come through unscathed and to get 45 minutes into most of the squad as possible.
“There’s a lot of work to do in terms of how we want to play, different ways of playing against different formations. All in all it was a good day with no injuries and we’ve come through the game.
“I said to the boy before the game that it was 45 minutes work and to put as much as they could into it because it’d benefit them for the next one.
“The next one is coming up in a few days so we look forward for that.”
Rovers travel to Boston United on Tuesday evening.
