Roberts relishing demands of senior football

30 July 2023

This summer has been a major step in the career of Tyler Roberts - and he is loving every minute.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee is embarking on his first experience of senior football during his time with Rovers and he is relishing the demands the challenge brings.

“That bit of competitiveness is what I like and I can’t wait for it,” he said.

“It’s a lot different to what I’m used to. You’re playing for your place in every training session and every game. It’s good and it’s healthy competition that I enjoy and I look forward to challenges like it.”

A new challenge has come from the change in circumstances off the pitch, and a move away from familiar surroundings.

“I’ve settled in fine really,” he said. “Moving down here, it’s been great. The lads have been great with me and I’ve settled in really well.

“I’ve been staying with Hursty [Kyle Hurst] and he’s been looking after me in the apartment. All has been good.”

Roberts joined up with the Rovers squad for the training camp in Scotland earlier this month, having spent the first few weeks of pre-season on international duty with Jamaica U21.

He feels he has caught up well with his new team mates and is ready for the new season to begin.

“There’s been lots of opportunities to get games and get minutes,” he said.

“I’ve enjoyed all the games and I think we’ve got better as a team over the games and I’m looking forward to

“I feel ready and excited again for the big competitive games that are coming up. I want to be a part of it.”
