Rovers U18s embarked on a pre-season training camp to Parsons Army Barracks in Telford.
As preparations for the 2023/24 season are well underway, Frank Sinclair's U18s side made the trip to the Midlands for one night which provided an eye-opening experience at one of the United Kingdom's army barracks.
The army put on team-bonding exercises as well as pushing the youngsters out of their comfort zones with unique fitness tests. The scholars were also treated to a 5am wake-up call for a 10km run.
Head of coaching and trip organiser Steve Welsh said: "The values and principles embedded in our Armed Forces are very similar to what we are seeking to achieve for our young players.
"The fact that our players immersed themselves in the experience and pushed themselves to the limit will serve them well in the long-term and the lessons they have learned will be lifelong."
The training camp was more than about building fitness for the upcoming campaign but was imperative for the personal development of the youngsters.
Head of player care and psychology Charlie Miall added: "As an Academy, we are committed to developing the lads both on and off the pitch, as people as well as players.
"This pre-season trip certainly did this, developing the lads personally and helping them work on various important life skills.
"I have no doubt we will see these benefits in terms of team cohesion, leadership, communication and resilience that the lads have developed in the season to come."
