Professional development phase coach Frank Sinclair feels his side are in line with their schedule after ending pre-season with a 3-0 win over Notts County.
Max Adamson opened the scoring to make it two goals in two games for himself before Will Green and Kenneth Imariagbe added the other goals at the Hoober Homes Elite Performance Centre.
Sinclair said: “It’s been a great week. Forget about the results in pre-season, that’s not what the summer is for. It’s about finding a structure and building a team.
“Having said that, we did play a really good game against Notts County. I thought some of the things that we’ve been working on in training, both in and out of possession, looked really good.
“We moved the ball well, pressed with a decent intensity higher up the pitch to win the ball back further forward and we created the opportunities because we moved it from back to front with effect.
“We’ve had some ideas filtered down from the first team gaffer and Cliff about how we want the boys to play going forward, and we’re trying our best to mirror that and implement it as much as possible."
Having now finished the pre-season programme, Sinclair paid testament to his side for their efforts since returning to Cantley Park.
He added: “I think the players have done really well over the last few weeks, I’ve balanced the minutes for everyone in the squad and sometimes it’s been difficult so we’ve had to use the U16s but I’ve tried my best to give everyone a fair amount of minutes.
“The biggest thing for me is that, of our scholars, the majority of them haven’t missed a single day so that obviously means they’ll be fitter and you can see that at the moment.”
