Miller and Biggins set to miss rest of season

23 March 2023

Harrison Biggins and George Miller are unlikely to feature for Rovers again this season, head coach Danny Schofield has confirmed.

Both players were forced off during the game at Salford City earlier this month as existing issues were exacerbated and now require surgical intervention.

Biggins is set to undergo a hernia operation while Miller will have surgery on a knee issue in the coming weeks.

Schofield said: "I'd be very surprised if we saw either of those two again this season.

"With George it was a knee injury that he's been carrying for a while and it just . We're going to get it scanned and see where it's at. Harrison has been playing with an injury and that has deteriorated over time so he's going to be out for a while.

"With Charlie Lakin ruled out as well, it's a tough one. You have to accept that it's part and parcel of football but first and foremost you have to feel for the players as it's a massive disappointment, and for the squad in general as well.

"To have those players not available is a real challenge for us.

"It's an opportunity for other players to stand up and give an account of themselves and make sure they make a positive impact.

Schofield revealed he is hopeful that goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell will be fit to face Northampton Town on Saturday having made strong progress with his shoulder injury.

Ro-Shaun Williams remains sidelined with a shin issue.
