Danny Schofield says Kyle Hurst has been a joy to work with at Rovers and he is excited about what is to come after the young winger committed his future to the club.
The 21-year-old has signed a new two-and-a-half year contract, to cement his future to Rovers until the summer of 2025.
A passionate developer of players, head coach Schofield has been pleased with the manner of Hurst’s development over the last few months and believes there is plenty more to come from him.
“I’ve been really impressed with him,” Schofield said. “First and foremost, he’s a great lad and a really good professional. He’s always striving to improve. He’s really engaged, not just when you’re on the pitch coaching, but in the analysis rooms as well. You can see he’s really taking things on board.
“When he performs to the level he does, you can see things are sticking. He’s a really good player to work with.
“It’s fantastic for a coach to work with a player who is so receptive to things.
“Him being the character he is, he can challenge as well. He always strives to find his own way with things. We advise him on certain aspects of his game.
“It’s rewarding for a coach when you have a player so open to wanting to learn and progress and develop. In a short period of time he’s started to implement that.
“I think the future for him is very bright.”
Schofield says Hurst’s progression being rewarded with a new contract is an example to his teammates that Rovers are ready to reward top performers.
“He has lots of potential and we want to keep our most valuable players at the football club,” he said.
“It shows to the rest of the squad that if you performing really well and doing the business on the pitch, which we feel he is, then the club are open to rewarding the players.
“Every time I speak to people in football - and I was at a game last night - Kyle Hurst is the first name mentioned in regards to players.”
