Since we last met: Crawley

21 March 2023

Rovers travel south on Tuesday night to take on Crawley Town in Sky Bet League Two.

Danny Schofield’s side go into the game looking for their first away win in since beating Swindon Town on February 11.

The last meeting:

Rovers produced their biggest win of the season so far when the two teams last met back in September.

Two goals from George Miller, along with a header from Joseph Olowu and a fine individual effort from Kyle Hurst secured a 4-1 victory at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Crawley’s recent form:

The Red Devils go into Tuesday night’s game on the back of consecutive league victories for the first time since October, having lost their previous four games prior to that.

That run started with a 5-2 defeat at home to promotion chasing Carlisle United on February 25, before ending the month by losing 1-0 at Tranmere. March started in similar fashion as they lost by the same scoreline at Northampton Town, prior to experiencing more troubles on the road at Sutton United.

In recent weeks though their form has improved drastically, after a run of eight games without a victory they beat fellow strugglers Harrogate Town 3-1 at Broadfield Stadium.

Their last league outing saw them win away for the first time this season at AFC Wimbledon.

Key men:

Winger James Tilley joined Crawley from fellow Sky Bet League Two side Grimsby Town in January 2021.

A product of the Brighton and Hove Albion Academy, the 24-year-old’s first loan spell came with Yeovil Town in 2019, where he made 21 appearances. He then moved north to join Grimsby on a permanent deal but just 10 league starts in 12 months at Blundell Park meant a move closer to home with Crawley made sense for all parties.

Tilley has now made almost 80 appearances since arriving at the Broadfield Stadium, scoring 11 goals in the process.

He has five to his name so far this season, including one at the Eco-Power in the reverse fixture.

Forward Ashley Nadesan joined Crawley on a permanent deal from Fleetwood Town in the summer of 2019.

The 28-year-old made 24 appearances for the Cod Army, and also had two loan spells with Carlisle United. He has made more than 200 career appearances, including 156 for Crawley heading into Tuesday night’s fixture.

Nadesan is approaching 50 career goals, seven of which have come this season. He scored the winner in the win at Wimbledon on Saturday, which was his first strike since November.

Striker Dom Telford last summer after the most successful season of his career last time around.

The 25-year-old was courted by several clubs after finishing as top scorer in Sky Bet League Two with Newport County last season, finding the back of the net 25 times.

After struggling to find his feet at the start of the campaign, he is now into double figures for goals this season, and six of those have come at Broadfield Stadium.
