Rovers are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Zain Westbrooke until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
The 26-year-old midfielder joins Danny Schofield’s side as a free agent after departing Sky Bet League One side Bristol Rovers in January.
Prior to that, Westbrooke made more than 120 career appearances, which also included a two-year spell with Coventry City.
After signing his deal at the Eco-Power Stadium, Westbrooke said: “I’m really pleased. I got the chance to train with the team and meet the staff and I felt very welcomed by everyone and felt really comfortable.
“I’ve been a free agent since January and when I got the call to come in, it was something I couldn’t turn down. I came to earn the contract and thankfully I’ve been able to do that.”
Head coach Danny Schofield said: “We have suffered injuries to two key players in Harrison Biggins and Charlie Lakin, who will both miss the rest of the season, so we were short of cover in that area of the pitch.
“Zain became available to us as a free agent and he has trained with a few clubs recently so his fitness levels are good.
“We’ve brought in a player with a good amount of experience at League One level and it’s an opportunity for him to come in and impact our squad.”
Westbrooke will wear the No.24 shirt during his time with Rovers.
