Age groups from across Doncaster Rovers' pre-Academy and Foundation Phase age groups shone at an end of season tournament at Pinchbeck.

Rovers' U7s and U10s won the competition in their age groups while the U8s lost in the final and the U9s exited in the semi-finals.

Pre-Academy and U10s coach Ollie Beaglehole said: "I want to commend all of the lads, they represented the club brilliantly.

"I took both the U7s and U10s. The 10s were faultless from start to finish, playing some absolutely fantastic football and thoroughly deserved to come away with the trophy.

"The 7s were also a credit to the club, showing an immense work rate and togetherness throughout the whole day having to go through two penalty shoot-outs to win the trophy in the final against Aston Villa.

"The boys will have a bright future if they continue to progress at the rate they are currently and I look forward to seeing them develop even more.

"I am incredibly proud of the boys - it was a brilliant way to round-up a fantastic season."

Adam Pilgrim, Rovers' lead youth Foundation Phase coach, added: "I'd like to thank Lewis at Pinchbeck United for his invite to the Knight's Trophy.

"This is the second year we have been invited and both times it's been an extremely well run event, with a great variety of opposition.

"This year we have really gone after providing competitive games for the boys across the phase, and we as staff are really pleased with the development we have seen, so this was a great way to end the season for our youngest players."
