Grant McCann wants more of the same from Rovers as they renew acquaintances with Accrington Stanley in the replay of the first round Emirates FA Cup tie.
The first half showing against Stanley in the original staging of the fixture was among Rovers’ best of the season before John Coleman’s side fought back in the second half.
McCann is keen for Rovers to shake off the disappointment of Saturday’s disappointing performance at AFC Wimbledon and reproduce the best of their efforts at Accrington.
“We want to approach every game like that,” he said. “We wanted to do that on Saturday and we didn’t, which was evident.
“When you don’t fulfil what you set out to do, the result is always likely to go against you.
“We hope to put that right on Tuesday. It’s a tough place to go Accrington, as it always is. We’ll go there and attack again.
McCann expects hosts Accrington to be smarting themselves following defeat at Crawley Town at the weekend and knows it will be another tough test for Rovers as they seek to book a second round tie against either Salford City or Peterborough United, who also face off in a replay on Tuesday.
“They’ve had a difficult defeat away from home, a bit like ourselves on Saturday,” McCann said.
“I’m sure John will get his team going to try to progress in the cup, and we’re no different.
“We saw what they were about in the first game. They’re very much a front-footed team with quality at the top end of the pitch that can hurt you so we have to be good again to get the result and make sure we’re in the next round.
“We both want to get into the next round. We know we’re going to play the winner of the Salford and Peterborough game so it’s about making sure we get the job done and see what happens in the other game.”
