McCann looking to continue form into international break

Grant McCann is looking for Rovers to head into the international break with a continuation of the recent strong form.

Rovers travel to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday ahead of a two-week gap in action from Sky Bet League Two, where they have picked up six victories from their last nine matches.

Good performances have followed in cup action over the last week, and McCann wants more of the same at Plough Lane.

“We’ve had the cup games sandwiched in between this game,” he said. “The league is the most important thing for us and we want to keep building in the league and keep producing results and performances to move us up the league.

“We feel good at the minute. Confidence is good, momentum is good. Players are in good form.

“We’ll go there and hopefully give them a good game and get the three points.”

Rovers’ home form has been the driving force so far this season but McCann insists he is not putting any greater emphasis on improving results on the road. Rather, he wants the focus to remain the same whether home or away.

“We go into any game, whether it’s home or away, trying to win the game,” he said. “We’ll be doing the exact that when we go to Wimbledon on Saturday.

“They’ve won their last couple of games in the cups after going through a little bit of a sticky spell in the league.

“They’ve got a good manager, a good style of play, good players and it’s a tough place to go. We know we’re in for a very good game on Saturday.

“Wimbledon have been in and around the top end of the league all season so far and I’ve not doubt with the players they’ve got that they’ll be up there at the end of the season.

“We know what sort of task we’ve got this weekend.”
