Grant McCann heaped praise on Mo Faal for his continued development during his time with Rovers.
The West Bromwich Albion loanee netted his fourth goal of the season in the 4-1 win over Sutton United - a game in which he turned in an excellent all round performance to maintain his good run of personal form.
And McCann admitted he had been impressed with Faal’s work ethic and desire to learn.
“He’s improving all the time,” McCann said. “This is his first loan into the Football League.
“He’s starting to look stronger. He came up against strong boys - Goodliffe and Sowunmi are strong boys at this level and Mo gave them a real run for their money.
“I’m pleased with him. His link up play is really good, he’s scoring goals, he’s creating goals and he won us the penalty for Joe.
“I’m really pleased with his progress.
“He’s a great kid and he wants to learn all the time. He just wants to get better.
“Even on days when we give the players a bit more of a down day, he wants to train so we have to look after him a bit. He’s so eager.
“He’s very popular in the changing room. He’s a great boy who’s the life and soul of things so I’m pleased to see him scoring.”
Faal has developed a strong partnership with Joe Ironside in recent games.
And McCann believes the 20-year-old can have no better example to learn from than his fellow striker.
“Joe’s a perfect example for him because he’s the ultimate professional,” the Rovers boss said.
“He’s rubbing off on Mo, he’s rubbing off on Jack Goodman, and Louie Marsh before he got injured.
“It’s great to see them all learning.”
