Grant McCann felt Rovers’ failure to make their big moment count in the manner Stockport County did was key in the defeat at Edgeley Park.
McCann was largely pleased with Rovers’ performance against the on-form Hatters but bemoaned poor defending for the Tanto Olaofe’s 84th minute winner and the failure to take big opportunities in front of goal.
“There were two chances in the second half - they’ve taken theirs and we haven’t taken ours,” McCann said. “That’s the game. I don’t think there was very much in the game.
“We made a very good Stockport team have to change their shape after 35 minutes to try to match us up a little bit.
“Football games are won in big moments. Big moments are Mo Faal’s chance and Joe Ironside’s when it came back to him.
“We showed it to the players in the changing room because we don’t want it to linger until Monday morning but there wasn’t enough intensity in the press. We didn’t get to the ball quick enough in midfield, we didn’t get to the cross and we left Olafe free in the six yard box.
“Big moments either win or lose you games and today we’ve lost.”
