Sinclair urges fans to back U18s in FA Youth Cup clash at Eco-Power Stadium

29 October 2023

Rovers U18s will face AFC Fylde at the Eco-Power Stadium in the first round of this season's FA Youth Cup on Monday, October 30.

Frank Sinclair's side will kick off at 7pm as they look to go one better than last year and reach the second round of the competition.

Having not played in DN4 since 2021, Sinclair has urged Rovers fans to get behind his side and help secure their place in round two.

"We want our fans to come down in their hundreds," Sinclair said. "We all want to give the lads the experience that they deserve."

"It was brilliant for the boys last year in front of an away support at Lincoln so we’re hoping it’ll be even better for them at home.

"The families will come in their numbers, our younger age groups will be there but we’d love to have some of our supporters in there too.

"If we can get our fans in there to have a look at our future that would be a great bonus and hopefully they can help to get us over the line."

A successful youth team graduate at Chelsea, Sinclair recalled the FA Youth Cup as a landmark of his playing career.

He added: "It’s a competition that everyone remembers if you’re a young kid who plays in it.

"I played in it for Chelsea over three years and although we never got close to winning it, it brings back some great memories of my time as a young footballer.

"My debut in the competition was against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane so it’s a great and historical competition.

"I want our boys to take that stadium environment in and hopefully we can make it a special occasion with the fans."

The fixture will take place at the Eco-Power Stadium on Monday October 30, 2023, kicking off at 7pm.

The James Coppinger West Stand will be open for the match with refreshments available on the concourse.
