Harrison Biggins felt Rovers were the architects of their own downfall in the defeat at Wrexham.
Despite trailing 1-0 at half time, Biggins said the Rovers side were confident of being able to go on to win the game.
But after Mo Faal drew them level, they would concede late through Elliot Lee to see the hosts claim all three points.
"It's difficult to take," Biggins said. "I thought we started the game well but then a lapse of concentration midway through the first half saw us go behind.
"We went in at half time and we thought there was a real opportunity for us to go on and win the game. The game opened up and we took it to them for most of the second half.
"Mo got the equaliser but then we shot ourselves in the foot late on conceding the second goal."
